How does it work?

Compost Berm is a sediment-trapping device that utilizes a specifically sized mulch/compost filtering material, pneumatic installation using a berm forming device, and biological/structural additive system that has been laboratory tested to be over 99% effective.

Compost Berm reduces runoff’s ability to transport sediment by filtering runoff and dissipating small rills of flow into uniform sheet flow.

Where should this practice be used?

Compost Berm is used where runoff occurs as sheet flow or where flow through small rills can be converted to sheet flow. Compost Berm cannot effectively treat flows in gullies, ditches or channels. For more severe conditions use specifications for temporary diversions, sediment traps, sediment basins, and Filtrexx Filter Soxx.
