Filtrexx Channel Soxx ™

How does it work?

Filtrexx Channel Soxx tm are to be used in place of rip rap or other channel designs for moving water off site and avoidance of further slope or channel erosion. Channel Soxx tm are normally seeded during the time of installation, which allows them to become part of the living landscape.

However, in temporary situations, they make excellent protective channels that can be removed without heavy equipment once construction is complete.

Where should this practice be used?

Use Filtrexx Channel Soxx tm in place of rip rap for channels when concerned about maintenance of the rest of the slopes. In many cases, maintenance of the rip rap/ grass zone is challenging and can be an area of concern for liability. Mowers picking up the stone rip rap or incurring damage is a hard variable to manage on construction sites once closure is completed.

The Channel Soxx tm allow permanent vegetation, along with compost and mesh netting, to provide the conveyance for water for many years without the problems or costs associated with rip rap.

This design is similar to ‘sod waterways’ commonly used in agricultural applications, except that the Filtrexx FilterSoxx tm offer additional reinforcement from the netting materials.

Filtrexx Channel Soxx tm also allow less sediment discharge due to intimate ground contact and the depth of compost within the Channel Soxx tm system.
